ERROR: 'image needs to much memory to create thumb'

Hello everybody,

What a super script!!!

I have a problem though on my site. (ki version 3, php v >5).

On my thumbs page, instead of seeing the thumb pictures, I see an ERROR notice for every picture, saying:

'ERROR: xyz.jpg needs too much memory to create this thumb. Please reduce it's size by hand''.

Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem? The pictures aren't excessively large...

Maybe the (php-processor on the) server of my provider doesn't want to perform the thumb creation?? In that case... can I make the thumbs myself and put them somewhere? Where should I put them, and how should I call them, in order for them to be displayed?

The error message means, that your php is very limited in regards of runtime memory allocation. You should contact your host and ask if he can increase the amount of memory for php-usage. Maybe you will need to switch to another provider/host.
Unfortunately you can't to the thumbs on your own. Therefore you would need to know the exact calculated size of every picture thumb and also the last modified time of the corresponding gallery config file.
