It's been a while since I have released a new beta. But now the time has come - finally. As usual some bugfixes and minor improvements. You will notice a new close button, which will permanently stay on the right corner of open images.
However, the most important improvement are viewer comments. If you click on an open image it will turn from now on and your guests will be able to write viewer comments on the backside of every image. I spend some time to achieve this cool flipping effect. This works even on oldest browsers like IE6 and adds some eye-catching animation to the whole package.

Update v2.4beta2: I have optimized the script again for Internet Explorer 6. All transparent images, used by the script, should be displayed properly now - the flip animation should also look better. Added also the $help_pos - parameter. Fixed also some smaller bugs.

Thanks, the new script looks great!

I noticed one thing though - The first time I turn over a picture for comments, I get this in the comment box:

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/jplett/public_html/jasonplett/mpaint/ki_base/ki_vcomm.php on line 119

It goes away as soon as a comment is input.

Fixed this now. Moved line 119 into the if-branch two lines to the top. Thanks for reporting. I didn't notice that because php-warnings were disabled in my configuration for some reason ?!?

hallo,

ich hab nun auch mal die neue beta runtergeladen.
was ich vermissen, sind in der ki_setup.php die kommentar-funktionen, in meiner letzten version welche im einsatz habe, sind diese dabei
z.B. $fr_width = 750; // width of the gallery

was mir noch aufgefallen ist, die neue beta funktioniert nicht mit ie6. es gibt einige firmen, die noch ie6 nutzen und nicht updaten, auch ich habe viele besucher die noch im gebrauch vom ie6 sind. ich werde daher die neue version nicht einsetzten, oder mit dem hinweis versehen, dass man auf ie7 ausweichen muss. dann werden die personen gezwungen mal upzudaten, zumal bald ie9 kommen wird.

auf dem bild wird ja ein i eingeblendet, diese sitzt ja am rechten unteren bildrand, kann man diese auch an den linken unteren bildrand versetzen?
außerdem erscheint oberhald des rechten bildrandes ein x um das bild zu schließen, in der galerie welche auf der hauptseite als demo ist sehe ich diese x nicht.

außerdem fand ich es toll, dass ich zum erstenmal eine email erhalten habe, dass eine neue beta version existiert.

Diese Kommentare sind nicht mehr in der "ki_setup.php" - Dateien enthalten, weil diese normalerweise nicht mehr von Hand editiert werden müssen. Es gibt seit Release v2.3 im Adminbereich eine grafische Oberfläche ( "Settings"-Link ). Dort steht auch hinter jedem Parameter ein kleiner Text, der beschreibt was der jeweilige Parameter steuert.

Ich habe die Beta nochmals überarbeitet und speziell für IE6 optimiert. Sollte jetzt alles wunderbar funktionieren, wenn man die Anweisungen aus der "readme.txt" befolgt. Ich empfehle dir die v2.4beta2 (im ersten Beitrag angehängt) runterzuladen und nochmal zu testen.

Einen entsprechenden Parameter ($help_pos) habe ich ebenfalls in v2.4beta2 eingebaut.

Auf der Hauptseite wird in der Demo keine Beta-Version benutzt. Die dort verwendete Skriptversion ist immer die letzte stabile Version. Zur Zeit ist das noch v2.3b .
