KoschtIT Image Gallery is a free and open-source image gallery PHP-script. It can be used to add image galleries to existing webpages very easily. The appearance of each gallery can be individually customized. The only prerequisite for using the script is PHP5 with GD2 support. The pictures aren't displayed in an extra window, instead they are opened directly on top of your HTML document. Therefore your website background gets shaded.
There is also an admin panel, which enables the site administrator to write picture comments and edit gallery settings. Gallery visitors can write viewer comments to any picture. Navigation via keyboard is available too. More features are: slidewhows, automatic thumb generation, image to window size reduction, image preloading, previews for the next/last picture, show geotagging information (via EXIF) ...

Hi, first of all I'd like to thank You for this nice and very usable script, which is working fine and I am using it on a my website. Since KoschtIT image gallery is mentioned on several security related sites as vulnerable, I would like to have your comment on this topic. Here is a quote from one of these sites

» I will fix this in the near future. In fact this vulnerability can't be exploited as long as there aren't further php-files who should stay secret for security reasons. If those files have more vulnerabilities an attacker could probably do some harm. But the overall threat is still small, because he won't be able to execute his own code.rnrnPlease discuss this topic on the forum, if neccessary.

Nice script, just one question? I would like the Next and Previous buttons to show at all times, not just on rollover I think this will make it easier for the viewer. Is there any way to do it and if so what file and where.

» You will need to modify the "triggerpreview"-function inside the "ki_skripte.php" . Feel free to change the JavaScript the way you want it to be.

I found the problem shortly after asking the question. ki_base needed to be set with write permissions, as that is where you currently have the "_lastmodified" file being stored.
Can I suggest changing it to store in the ki_config directory. At least then it keeps all created files to only two directories and the core folder "ki_base" can remain protected with only read permissions.
Thumbnails not saving to diskposted by Travis on 02/16/2009
I have thumbs_to_disk set to 1, permissions are all set to 777, it creates the thumbs directory, displays the thumbs correctly, but it is not saving the thumbs to disk. Is there something I am missing?
» If you set $show_warnings to 1, do you see any error/warning messages? Maybe your PHP is not allowed to write any files to the server. You can answer me by E-Mail, if you want to.

The script is great, easy to set up. Comments are easy to add. Setup parameters are clear and easy to change. It's nice to be able to load large pictures and let the script generate thumbnails. The only problem I have is the fade color in IE6 does not render [background does not change color, makes the white direction arrows hard to see]. Firefox and Mozilla fading works fine. This is trully a great functional gallery script, and I would only like to ask if there is a possibility to add in the script so it can read the actual image file name, and automaticly add it as comment (file name - auto comment).
